A collection of partners is working together to deliver Rochester Riverside. Countryside Properties and Hyde are joint venture partners and are spearheading its delivery.
Countryside is a leading UK home builder specialising in place making and urban regeneration. For the year ended 30 September 2017 it completed 3389 homes with revenues of £1028.8m. The Partnerships division, which oversees the delivery of Rochester Riverside specialises in urban regeneration of public sector land, delivering private and affordable homes by partnering with local authorities and housing associations.
At Rochester Riverside, Countryside Properties, alongside Hyde will be leading on the delivery of the vision of the scheme and implementing the masterplan, including building more than 1,000 new homes.
Hyde is an award-winning provider of homes, combining social purpose with entrepreneurial drive and professionalism. Hyde is one of the largest housing associations working in England, owning or managing circa 50,000 homes in London, Kent, Surrey, Sussex, Hampshire, the East of England and East Midlands. This means that more than 100,000 residents have a home at a price at which they can afford, with long tenancies that give them the chance to improve their life chances.
At Rochester Riverside, Hyde is playing a vital role in delivering the homes in partnership with Countryside. Up to 25% of new homes built at Rochester Riverside will be affordable.
Rochester Riverside is the flagship project in Medway Council'’s regeneration programme. The site is owned by both Medway Council and Homes England, who are jointly promoting the site for redevelopment.
Homes England is the new housing delivery organisation that has been created to adopt a more commercial approach to respond to the long term housing challenges facing this country. The new, expanded agency will play a far bigger role in investing in supply and intervening in the market to help deliver 300,000 homes a year by the middle of the next decade.
Homes England will act differently from its predecessor, bringing together money, land, expertise and planning and compulsory purchase powers to accelerate the supply of new homes and address affordability issues in areas of highest demand.
